The Challenge

To be at the forefront of providing its students with hi-tech interactive learning means huge investments in A/V equipment to allow over 2,500 students and teaching staff seamless access to classroom projectors. With WiFi being standard on every laptop, they wanted to skip the analogue wired A/V solutions that come with switches, connector boxes and cables. The challenge for WOW was to come up with a future-proof wireless solution that will work with existing projectors, computer platforms and A/V equipment at the same time providing a significant cost saving to the polytechnic.

Our Approach

With that challenge, we took it on by looking at providing an even better solution. A solution that not only allows wireless presentation within the classrooms but also anywhere outside the campus, even if students or lecturers are at home or abroad. And we also wanted to ensure lecturers and professors only need to rely on their laptop to control the classrooms and lecture halls assets such as curtains and lighting and skip the complicatedand costly touch-panels and interface cables.

The Solution

Our wowVEOS: Smart Classroom Gateway, wireless presentation and learning solution consists of only 1 set-top box per classroom. It took less than 5 hours to get each classroom up and running, minimising down time. The web-based centralised management of all the classrooms and users allow the administrators to manage hundreds of projectors remotely and monitor lamp-life, usage patterns, user access rights and even remotely control lecture halls curtains and lighting systems. With over 21,000 VGA-points connected wirelessly, the setup and maintenance costs were reduced by more than 60%.
